Former Liverpool defender, Mamadou Sakho has reportedly been suspended for beating his Montpellier Coach Michel Der Zakarian.
Also, the 33-year-old French defender’s stay is at risk of termination with internal investigation by the club underway over the training ground bust-up between the player and Coach Michel.
As reported by L’Equipe, Sakho grabbed Michel Der Zakarian by the collar and knocked him to the ground in front of several witnesses during a training ground bust-up.
This was after Mamadou Sakho walked off the training pitch angry over the Coach’s decision to overlook a foul on him during training.
Der Zakarian is alleged to have responded to the defenders reaction with a ‘not à la carte’ (crying baby) remark.
That did not sit well with Sakho who knocked the Montpellier Coach to the ground before players and staff members rushed in.
According to L’Equipe, the defender has been suspended and will now face a hearing at Montpellier next week.
Reports in France say the 29-cap France International was informed of his suspension early on Wednesday morning, and so has not reported for training since the incident.
Sakho could potentially be dismissed for serious misconduct if the club finds that he acted inappropriately as part of their internal investigation.
A former Liverpool Defender, Sakho spent eight years stay in the English Premier League, spending four of those at Anfield before leaving the Reds moving to Crystal Palace in 2017.
After four-years at Palace, Sakho returned to France to join Montpellier in 2021.
