Manchester United have confirmed that Amad has suffered an ankle injury in training and will miss a significant part of the season.
Reports on Saturday revealed that the forward picked up the problem before he later confirmed the news on social media. “Extremely disappointed to be writing this message at such a crucial time of the season,” he wrote on Instagram.
“Unfortunately, I will be out for some time with an injury. I will come back stronger than ever! Time to support the boys from the outside. Still lots to play for.”
On Sunday morning, ahead of United’s Premier League match against Tottenham, the club released an official statement on X (formerly Twitter).
“We can confirm that Amad has sustained an ankle injury in training that is expected to keep him out for a number of weeks,” the statement read.
“Setbacks are set-ups for comebacks, @AmadDiallo_19 – we know you’ve got this.”
Amad has been one of United’s standout players this season, scoring nine goals and providing seven assists. Since Ruben Amorim took charge in November, the 22-year-old has featured in multiple roles, including an attacking position behind the striker and at wing-back in a 3-4-3 formation.
Initial reports suggested Amad could miss the rest of the season, but United’s statement indicates he may only be out for a few weeks.
His injury adds to United’s growing list of absentees, with Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte, and Toby Collyer also ruled out of the trip to north London. They join Luke Shaw, Mason Mount, Lisandro Martinez, and Jonny Evans on the sidelines.
With key players missing, Amorim faces a tough challenge as United push for a strong finish to the season.
