Manchester City 5-1 AEK Athens: Phil Foden Hat-Trick Leads City to Dominant Win

Manchester City produced an impressive attacking display to defeat AEK Athens 5-1 in the UEFA Champions League, with Phil Foden stealing the spotlight by scoring a superb hat-trick.

City took control early at the Etihad Stadium, with Elliot Anderson opening the scoring in the 12th minute. Foden doubled the advantage in the 34th minute, giving Enzo Maresca side a comfortable position before the break.

AEK Athens briefly threatened a comeback when Stavros Pilios scored in the 52nd minute. However, Rayan Cherki restored City’s two-goal cushion five minutes later, shifting the momentum firmly back in the hosts’ favour.

Foden then took charge of the contest, completing his hat-trick with goals in the 65th and 76th minutes. His finishing and movement proved too much for the visitors, who struggled to contain City’s attacking quality as the match progressed.

The victory was an important response from Manchester City following their previous Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain. Guardiola’s side showed their attacking depth and ability to recover quickly, while Foden delivered a performance that will strengthen his case as one of the team’s most influential players.

With three goals to his name, Foden was the standout performer on a night when City demonstrated why they remain a formidable opponent in European competition.
