Manchester City Agree Deal for Marc Guéhi

Manchester City have reached an agreement to sign Marc Guéhi from Crystal Palace, with the transfer fee reported to be around £20 million.

The England international has agreed personal terms on a five and a half year contract, with the move coming as his Palace deal enters its final phase.

The fee could rise closer to £30 million depending on add-ons, but even at that level, City sees the deal as good value for a proven Premier League defender.

The move comes at an important moment for City, who are currently stretched defensively. Joško Gvardiol is sidelined long term with a tibial fracture, Rúben Dias is set to miss several weeks because of a hamstring issue, and John Stones has been dealing with ongoing fitness concerns. Bringing in Guéhi gives Pep Guardiola added security at the back at the same time.

At 25, Guéhi brings leadership and experience to city. He served as Crystal Palace’s captain throughout the Premier League season, has made 20 appearances for the England national team, and was one of England’s standout performers at Euro 2024. He fits the profile City is looking for in a central defender.
