Manchester City, Chelsea to battle for Nigeria-eligible midfielder
Manchester City and Chelsea are set to battle for the services of Nigeria-eligible midfielder Michael Olise, this summer, SportsRation reports.
This is according to Italian transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano, who revealed Manchester City and Chlesea FC are interested in signing the talented Crystal Palace winger this summer.
Fabrizio added that Olise has a release clause of about 35 million pounds, an affordable bargain for both City and Chelsea FC.
One factor which is under consideration by both clubs is the injury Micheal Olise suffered while on international duty with France U21’s in the 2023 European U21 Championship.
Algerian forward Riyad Mahrez is leaving City this summer with Olise as a suitable replacement for the former African Player of the Year.
Likewise, Chelsea struggled in front of goal last season and are interested in the England-born forward to improve their chances in front of goal heading into the new season.
The 21-year-old scored 2 goals and registered eleven assists for Crystal Palace last season which earned him the club’s Players’ Player of the Year.
Olise joined the Eagle from Reading in 2021 and has notched 6 goals and 19 assists in 71 appearances across all competitions.
