Manchester City thump Monchengladbach in Germany
Guardiola's men have won 19 consecutive matches this season
Manchester City defeated German side, Borussia Monchengladbach in the away leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie by two goals to nil on Wednesday.
The Citizens went in front in the first half as diminutive Portuguese playmaker Bernardo Silva found himself at the receiving end of a cross from his compatriot Joao Cancelo and he duly headed in the ball to give them a 1-0 lead. Manchester City dominated the game throughout, and were rewarded with a second goal in the 65th minute through Brazilian striker, Gabriel Jesus. Jesus has now scored 5 goals in 5 UEFA Champions League Round of 16 matches for Manchester City in his career. City held on for the 2-0 win which puts them in the perfect position for their home leg at the Etihad stadium in three weeks’ time. They were also boosted by the return of record goalscorer, Sergio Aguero who made his first appearance since January as a substitute for English youngster, Phil Foden.
Manchester City look really good at both ends of the pitch and have won their last 19 games while only conceding 6 goals in that time and scoring 52. Pep Guardiola will be looking for his first UEFA Champions League triumph since 2011 with this Manchester City side.
