The much-anticipated Manchester Derby failed to deliver as Manchester United and Manchester City played out a 0-0 draw at Old Trafford – the first goalless derby at the ground in five years.
The match lacked real quality in the first half, with neither side creating much. However, the game became a bit more exciting after the break, as both teams started to find chances.
Phil Foden had City’s best chance, while Joshua Zirkzee came close for United, but neither player could score the goal that would have made the difference.
United looked slightly better overall, and their manager Ruben Amorim will likely be satisfied with the result. The point moves his team up to 13th place, just ahead of Tottenham Hotspur.
For City, the draw will feel like a missed chance. A win would have taken them above Chelsea into the top four, but instead they stay in fifth place, one point behind Chelsea and two points ahead of Newcastle United, who still have two games in hand.
