Manchester United Fall to Nottingham Forest as Elanga Haunts Former Club

Manchester United suffered a disappointing defeat at the City Ground as Nottingham Forest secured a 1-0 victory, with former United academy star Anthony Elanga scoring the decisive goal.

Elanga Strikes Early to Stun United

United started the game aiming to build on recent positive results, but their plans were quickly disrupted. Just five minutes into the match, Elanga picked up the ball deep in his own half, surged forward with blistering pace, and calmly slotted past Andre Onana to give Forest an early lead.

Despite United dominating possession, they struggled to create clear-cut chances against a well-organised Forest side.

Elanga Respects Former Club

The 22-year-old initially looked set to celebrate but quickly halted, raising his hand in a gesture of respect toward United’s travelling supporters before being mobbed by his teammates.

Elanga, who spent eight years at United before joining Forest in 2023, made 55 first-team appearances for the Red Devils, scoring four goals. Since moving to Forest, he has become a key player, and his strike against United was his sixth goal of the Premier League season.

United’s Struggles Continue

The defeat adds to United’s frustrating season, with Ruben Amorim’s side failing to turn their possession into goals. They remain in 13th place in the Premier League, while Forest continue their impressive campaign, sitting in third.

With pressure mounting, United will need to bounce back quickly as they look to salvage their season.
