Manchester United’s Andre Onana praises new signing Leny Yoro
Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana is excited about the club’s latest recruit, Leny Yoro, following the young defender’s impressive debut.
Yoro, who joined the club just two days prior, made a strong start in United’s 2-0 pre-season victory over Rangers at Murrayfield, Edinburgh.
The 18-year-old defender showcased his talent by completing 100% of his duels, achieving a 92% pass accuracy, making four of seven accurate long balls, recording one block, and one clearance. His performance earned praise from both teammates and fans.
In the match, Amad Diallo scored in the first half, with Joe Hugill adding a second goal after the break. Andre Onana, making his first pre-season appearance, played a full 90 minutes and was solid in goal against the Scottish side.
After the win, Onana highlighted Yoro’s talent and potential. “That’s why he’s here [he has lots of talent],” Onana said, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News. “If you want to be a Manchester United player, you must have quality, and he’s already shown himself in the first half. He’s young, talented, and good on the ball, so we’re going to enjoy him this season.”
Onana also expressed confidence in Yoro’s temperament, adding, “He will [have the temperament], he will, and we’re here to help him. We’re going to give him time, we know he’s going to be alright, and we have very good scouts here, so if they made him come, that means he’s got a lot of quality.”
Yoro’s arrival is a welcome addition to United’s defense, which was plagued by injuries last season
