Marco Silva: Oscar Bobb Signing Will Not Affect Chukwueze’s Future at Fulham

Fulham head coach Marco Silva has insisted that the club’s signing of Oscar Bobb will not affect Samuel Chukwueze’s future at Craven Cottage.

The Super Eagles winger joined Fulham on a deadline-day loan from AC Milan last summer. Although he started slowly, the 26-year-old has settled well in London and has recorded three goals and four assists in ten appearances for the club.

Fulham’s attack has seen changes in the January transfer window. Adama Traore left the club for West Ham United, prompting Fulham to move quickly in the market. The club then signed Norwegian winger Oscar Bobb in a big-money deal to strengthen the squad.

Speaking ahead of Fulham’s match against Manchester United, Marco Silva explained that Bobb was signed to replace Traore and not to push Chukwueze out of the team.

The Portuguese coach said the club had been planning for Traore’s exit and identified Bobb as a suitable replacement. He added that the signing was made with both the present and the future in mind.

With several options available on the wings, questions were raised about what the new signing means for Chukwueze. Silva, however, made it clear that the Nigerian remains an important part of his plans.

He said the club is happy with Chukwueze’s performances and praised his attitude and quality. According to the Fulham boss, the winger is adapting well to what the team needs and there is enough time for him to continue improving.

Chukwueze showed his commitment to the team by featuring for 79 minutes against Manchester United, despite losing his mother just a week earlier.

Fulham remain confident that both Chukwueze and Bobb can play key roles as the season progresses.
