Marcus Rashford Set for Aston Villa Loan Move
Marcus Rashford is close to joining Aston Villa on loan from Manchester United, multiple reports suggest on February 1, 2025.
The 27-year-old forward has been out of favour at United and has not played since December 12 under new head coach Ruben Amorim.
Villa are expected to cover most of Rashford’s £325,000-a-week wages, with additional performance-based bonuses included. The move has been made possible after the club sold Jhon Duran to Al-Nassr for £64 million.
Reports also state that the deal will include an option for Villa to buy Rashford permanently at the end of the season.
Rashford, who has struggled for form under both Erik ten Hag and Amorim, is eager to revive his career and compete in the Champions League again.
Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund, Monaco, and AC Milan were all interested in signing him, but his high wages made a move difficult.
Despite scoring three goals in Amorim’s first two league matches, Rashford fell out with the Portuguese coach after reports emerged that he was out on a Friday night before a game against Everton. The fallout has seen him sidelined since.
There are also suggestions that United’s part-owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, wants Rashford out of the club, with sources claiming the player feels he is being treated unfairly.
If the final details are agreed upon, Rashford will stay in the Premier League and join Villa, where he hopes to regain his best form.
