Matt Barnes backtracks, revokes support for Ime Udoka as new facts surface in case
Former Lakers star reveals Udoka case is much worse than initially feared
After the suspension of Boston Celtics Head Coach Ime Udoka by the franchise’s bosses, the Nigerian received support from many athletes and fans, including former Los Angeles Lakers star Matt Barnes. Now, the supporters have begun to backtrack after learning new facts of the case.
Udoka had been suspended by the franchise for the entirety of the 2022-23 season after he was caught in a consensual sexual relationship with a female member of staff of the franchise. According to Barnes, however, the former San Antonio Spurs assistant coach’s problem is much deeper.
Reportedly, Udoka had been in a consensual relationship with the woman in question but began to harrass her when their relationship came to an end. He also allegedly sent explicit messages to various female member of staff of the Celtics while keeping a relationship with the wife of the Celtics Finance Vice President.
Rumours are rife as to what happened with Ime Udoka, who has now revealed that out of respect for his family and employers he would not say anything on the matter. It was also revealed that his fiancee Nia Long said she would focus on raising her children after his actions. The coming days should reveal a lot more of the Udoka case and give basketball fans a better understanding.
