Max Verstappen reveals what will help Red Bull win a record-equaling fifth F1 Championship crown
Max Verstappen believes that Red Bull’s experience and strength will be important in his bid to win a record-equaling fifth straight Formula One world championship in 2025.
The Dutch driver won his fourth consecutive title in Las Vegas last November, becoming only the fifth driver in F1 history to achieve such dominance. If he defends his title successfully in 2025, which marks F1’s 75th anniversary, he will match Michael Schumacher’s record of five straight championships.
Despite winning the 2024 title by 63 points over McLaren’s Lando Norris, Red Bull did not win a third straight constructors’ championship. However, Verstappen remains hopeful about their chances.
“If we are competitive as a team, then I’m sure we can win again,” Verstappen told reporters during the 2025 Formula One season launch at London’s O2 Arena on Tuesday.
“We are very experienced, and I think we showed last year that even when it was tougher for us, we were still getting the best results. That’s a big strength of the team.”
Verstappen Eyes Fifth Consecutive F1 Title, Credits Red Bull’s Strength With pre-season testing in Bahrain still to come ahead of the season-opening Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne on March 16, Verstappen said it was too early to know where Red Bull stood in the competition.
“I don’t know where we are right now,” he said. “I think no one knows that. In a few weeks, we’ll know.”
The 27-year-old added: “I haven’t driven my car yet, and no one has seen the other cars, so it’s pointless to guess. It’s good for the sport if it’s exciting, but I don’t know at the moment.”
Meanwhile, reports last month said that Aston Martin was planning to make a huge £1 billion ($1.25 billion) offer to try to sign Verstappen from Red Bull. However, Aston Martin’s new team principal, Andy Cowell, played down the rumours, saying the team was focused on their current drivers.
With the new season approaching, all attention will be on whether Verstappen and Red Bull can keep their dominance or if other teams can pose a real challenge.
