Medvedev qualifies Australian Open final in style

To face Novak Djokovic on Sunday

Russian world number 4, Daniil Medvedev defeated Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas in the men’s second semi-final at the 2021 Australian Open on Friday.

Medvedev’s movement and hard hitting technique were too much for Tsitsipas to handle as the Greek player looked physically and mentally worn out from his exertions in defeating Rafael Nadal in the Quarterfinals only two days earlier. Tsitsipas lost in straight sets 4-6 2-6 5-7 as Medvedev booked his place in Sunday’s final. Medvedev has now won 20 tour level matches in a row, currently level with women’s finalist Naomi Osaka.

Medvedev will now aim to pick up the win in Sunday’s final against the world’s best player, Novak Djokovic in order to win his first ever Grand Slam title.
