Medvedev wins Brisbane Title to Open 2026
Daniil Medvedev opened his 2026 season with a title, defeating Brandon Nakashima 6–2, 7–6(1) to win the Brisbane International.
Medvedev controlled the match early, taking the first set comfortably before closing things out in a dominant tiebreak. The win gives him his first title of the season, improves his record to 5–0 in 2026, and marks the 22nd title of his career.
One detail made the milestone even more unique. All 22 of Medvedev’s career titles have come in different cities, meaning every trophy he has won has been in a new location.
After lifting the trophy, Medvedev shared a personal moment, dedicating the win to his daughter.
“My daughter actually had a birthday when I was here. I dedicate this to her, one year old.”
The Brisbane title signals a good start to the year for Medvedev, who looks settled and sharp heading into the rest of the Australian season.
