‘Messi Will Be Back Soon’: Argentina Coach Reassures Fans About Messi Injury

Lionel Messi participation in the 2024 Copa America final was cut short due to an ankle injury, but fans can now breathe a sigh of relief.

The Argentina national team head coach, Lionel Scaloni, has confirmed that the injury is not serious, and Messi will soon return to the pitch.

The final, held at Hard Rock Stadium, saw Argentina clinch a narrow 1-0 victory over Colombia, thanks to an extra-time goal from Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martínez.

This victory marked Argentina’s 16th Copa America title, and Messi’s 45th career trophy, making him the most decorated player in football history.

Despite the triumph, Messi’s night took an unexpected turn when he was substituted due to an ankle injury caused by the “poor state of the playing turf.”

As he watched his team battle from the sidelines, Messi was visibly emotional, knowing his presence on the field could make a difference.

However, the game turned in Argentina’s favor with Martínez’s goal in the 112th minute, sealing the win and ensuring Messi’s second consecutive Copa America title. After the match, Scaloni addressed concerns about Messi’s injury.

“It was a mild challenge,” Scaloni assured. “He will be fit to return to action with his club. Our medical team is on top of the situation.”

Scaloni, who also led Argentina to victory in the 2022 FIFA World Cup, praised Messi’s resilience and dedication. “He’s the best in history and, even with an ankle like that, he doesn’t want to go off. It’s not because he’s selfish, but because he doesn’t want to let his teammates down. He was born to be on a pitch.”

As Messi prepares to return to Inter Miami, his recovery is the primary focus. Fans can look forward to seeing him back in action soon, ready to add more memorable moments to his extraordinary career.
