Michael Olise joins Bayern Munich in major transfer move

Bayern Munich have completed the signing of Michael Olise from Crystal Palace for €60 million (£50.7 million), including add-ons.

This move comes after a competitive race for the winger, with Chelsea and Newcastle United also showing strong interest.

Olise, 22, has been a standout performer in the Premier League, and his decision to join Bayern Munich was influenced by the prospect of playing in the Champions League and working under coach Vincent Kompany.

“I am thrilled to join such a prestigious club like Bayern Munich. I couldn’t turn down the chance to compete at the highest level and develop under Vincent Kompany,” said Michael Olise.

Olise’s journey to Bayern is notable for his impressive performances at Crystal Palace, where he scored 10 goals and provided six assists in the last season despite facing injuries.

His current deal with Palace was set to expire in 2027, but Bayern triggered his release clause to secure the transfer.

This signing is a significant boost for Bayern Munich, who are looking to strengthen their squad after a challenging season.

“Michael is a talented player with great potential. We believe he will be an important addition to our team,” said Bayern’s sporting director.

English Premier League Club, Crystal Palace immediately after the transfer was completed expressed mixed emotions about the transfer. While they are proud of Olise’s growth and contribution, they understand his desire to take the next step in his career. “We wish Michael all the best at Bayern. He has been an exceptional player for us,” stated a Palace spokesperson.
