Mijaín López wins 4th consecutive Olympic gold to join exclusive list
Cuban wrestler Mijaín López has put his name in am exclusive list after winning his 4th straight Olympics gold medal.
The 38-year-old defeated Georgia’s Iakobi Kajaia to win his 4th consecutive gold medal in Men’s Greco-Roman 130kg.
Lopez took a 3-0 lead into the break with a gut wrench and turn and made it 5-0 with a step out point before Kajaia conceded with 10 seconds remaining.
The win put Mijain Lopez in an exclusive list that has Carl Lewis, Michael Phelps and Al Oerter Jr. as the only athletes to win four straight golds at a single Olympic event.
Mijain Lopez has outscored his opponents 79-3 during his career at the Olympics and 54-0 during the past three gold medal runs.
