Retired Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel has helped his club Stoke City to their first ever Carabao Cup quarter-finals place since 2015.

The Porters secured an incredible 1-0 win against Aston Villa on Thursday to book a place in the last eight of the English League cup.

A goal from Sam Vokes was all that Stoke City needed to qualify for the quarterfinals with a 1-0 win at the Villa Park.

This is the first time first time since 2015 – and the first time when the club has been outside the Premier League since 2000 that they will make the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.
