Milner Urges Liverpool To Improve After Chelsea Stalemate

Liverpool full-back James Milner has admitted the team’s poor performance against Chelsea and has called for improvement.

Liverpool and Chelsea played out a drab goalless draw at Anfield on Saturday.

Milner confessed that the performance was not up to scratch.

“They’re not the best football matches that we’re playing but it’s small steps to getting where we know we can be,” Milner said.

“At this moment in time, it was a game that was important we didn’t lose. We would have liked to have won it, but it’s pleasing that we did have the chances.

“We need to make steps and this is a small step in the right direction, but we’ve obviously got a long way to go to where we want to be.”

The Reds have struggled with injuries to key players this season, missing the services of the likes of Virgil Van Dijk, Luis Diaz,  Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota.

Liverpool have 29 points from 19 games to occupy the eighth position on the Premier League table.
