Mission X Complete: Super Falcons come from behind Vs Morocco to win 10th WAFCON title

The Super Falcons of Nigeria have won the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) for the 10th time after beating Morocco 3-2 in an exciting final.
The match, played at the Stade Olympique de Rabat in Morocco, saw the home team start strongly in front of their fans. Ghizlane Chebbak scored the first goal for Morocco in the 13th minute, and Sanaa Mssoudy added a second in the 24th minute. Morocco led 2-0 at half-time.
In the second half, Nigeria’s head coach, Justin Madugu, made key changes by bringing on Rinsola Babajide and Jennifer Echegini to add more speed to the attack.
Esther Okoronkwo scored a penalty in the 64th minute to get Nigeria back into the game. She then set up Folashade Ijamilusi for the equaliser in the 71st minute.
Later, Asisat Oshoala, five-time CAF Player of the Year, came on to help finish the game.
In the 88th minute, Okoronkwo found Echegini again, who scored the winning goal.
Nigeria held on to win 3-2 and were crowned champions of Africa once more.
Elsewhere at WAFCON 2024:
Ghana’s Black Queens won the bronze medal after beating South Africa’s Banyana Banyana 4-3 on penalties. The match had ended in a draw before the shootout.
