Mo Salah now Liverpool, and Africa’s all-time top goal scorer in the Champions League
Joint-top with Didier Drogba
Mohamed Salah is now Liverpool’s all-time top goalscorer in a European club competition after scoring his side’s second goal in their round-of-16 clash against Real Madrid on Tuesday.
The Egyptian also became the joint African top scorer with the same goal which would go down as the easiest he has ever scored in his career.
Going into the clash against Real Madrid, Mo Salah was joint top at 41 with Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard but the Egyptian now sits atop all by himself with 42 goals.
Again, he joins his former Chelsea teammate, Didier Drogba as the African with the most goals in the Champions League with 44 goals.
At the time of this report, both clubs ended the first 45 minutes scoring two goals each. Liverpool raced into two early goals.
A superb backheel goal from Darwin Nunez following a fine pass from Mo Salah. Mo Salah then scored Liverpool’s second after a gift from his former Chelsea teammate Thibaut Courtois.
But Vinicius Junior scored two great goals to bring Real Madrid back into the game as both teams went into the break tied at 2-2.
Following his assist for Darwin Nunez’s goal, Mo Salah now holds both records for the most goals (42) and assists (13) by a Liverpool player in European competition.
