Liverpool climbed back to the top of the Premier League table with a hard-fought 2-1 comeback win against Brighton, securing back-to-back victories after defeating the same team in the Carabao Cup midweek. The win extends Liverpool’s strong run, pushing them into first place.
Despite dominating early possession, Liverpool were shocked by a Brighton opener just 14 minutes in. Kaoru Mitoma set up the play with a low cross that found Ferdi Kadioglu, who struck the ball into the bottom corner.
Liverpool intensified their efforts in the second half, creating multiple scoring opportunities. Their persistence paid off in the 69th minute when Cody Gakpo’s cross found its way into the far corner, equalising the score. Just three minutes later, Mohamed Salah sealed the win with a stunning strike, curling Curtis Jones’ pass into the top corner.
Liverpool managed to withstand Brighton’s late pressure, holding on to their 2-1 lead to clinch the comeback win and regain their position at the top of the league.
