Moffi completes deadline-day transfer, joins OGC Nice
Super Eagles striker set for new adventure
Super Eagles star striker Terem Moffi has today completed a transfer to French Ligue 1 outfit OGC Nice from FC Lorient. The 23-year-old joins the Eaglets on an initial six-month loan with an obligation to buy.
Moffi was the subject of interest from Premier League sides West Ham United and Southampton but preferred to remain in France. The in-form striker has scored 12 times in the league this season, having previously turned out for FC Lorient. He joined FC Lorient from KV Kortrijk and managed to make a name for himself at the club.
Moffi will join Nice on an initial six-month loan deal for €2.5 million before joining permanently in the summer thanks to the obligation to buy for €22.5 million. The deal also includes €5 million in add-ons, taking the total package to €30 million. The striker will take the number 9 shirt and look to hit the ground running at the club. Ivorian winger Nicolas Pepe is presently the club’s top scorer with six goals and Moffi will hope to take on the team’s goalscoring burden.
