Moffi Delighted After Completing Loan Move to FC Porto

Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi has expressed his happiness after joining two-time UEFA Champions League winners FC Porto on loan from French side OGC Nice.
The 26-year-old was officially unveiled as a Porto player two days ago, bringing an end to a difficult spell in France. Moffi had earlier taken OGC Nice to the Ligue 1 judicial commission in a bid to secure his exit, following an incident in which he was violently attacked by fans. Unimpressed by the club’s handling of the situation, the Nigerian forward pushed for a move away, with Porto eventually securing his signature.
Speaking to Porto’s official website, the former Lorient striker said he was proud to join the Portuguese giants and grateful for the opportunity to start afresh.
“I feel very proud to be here and to wear the colours of the club. It’s really emotional for me, and I appreciate the president, the coach and the fans,” Moffi said.
“Porto are a club that always wants to win trophies, to win games in the Champions League and the Liga Portugal. We know how important this is to the fans and to the Porto family. It feels good to be here.”
Moffi will work again under head coach Francesco Farioli, who previously managed him at OGC Nice between June 2023 and May 2024. The striker spoke highly of the Italian coach’s attention to detail and impact on his development.
“Mr Francesco is someone who focuses a lot on details – body shape, how you take the touch and where you take it,” he said.
“He focuses on these details to make you a better player, so it’s not a surprise to see what he’s doing now. He did well at Ajax and is now at Porto doing something extraordinary.”
The Super Eagles forward added that his main aim is to enjoy his football again and contribute goals for his new club.
“I just want to be happy playing football. When I’m happy, that’s when I’m at my best,” Moffi said.
“I love scoring goals, working for my team and interacting with the fans. I know there are huge expectations, but with the help of God, the goals they want to see will come.”
Moffi could make his debut for the two-time UEFA Europa League winners on Monday when Porto face Casa Pia AC in a Liga Portugal fixture.
