Moffi nets as Lorient hold AS Monaco to draw
Super Eagles striker impresses amid Premier League interest
Terem Moffi was on the scoresheet for FC Lorient as they held AS Monaco to a 2-2 draw at home in their Ligue 1 clash. The 23-year-old striker scored the go-ahead goal for his side before a late equaliser denied them all three points.
Amid very apparent interest from a number of Premier League sides for their players, FC Lorient hosted AS Monaco in Ligue 1.
The first period of the game did not deliver the goods, but the game came to life in the second half. The visitors took the lead after 61 minutes through Swiss striker Breel Embolo. The striker was found after impressive work from midfielder Mohammed Camara and he slotted home his eighth league goal of the season.
FC Lorient turned to its rising stars to turn the game on its head in a two-minute spell. First, Enzo Le Fee fed coveted Burkinabe whiz Dango Ouattara to equalise for the home side in the 75th minute before Ouattara turned provider for Super Eagles striker Moffi to put the hosts ahead two minutes later. It was Moffi’s 11th Ligue 1 goal in 17 appearances.
The home side were unable to hold on for the win as experienced striker Wissam Ben Yedder came off the bench to score an equaliser for AS Monaco in added time, denying FC Lorient the opportunity to claim maximum points.
Moffi is still on the radar of Southampton and with his form in front of goal, it is hard to see him remain at FC Lorient for much longer. Innocent Bonke started the match for FC Lorient in midfield and lasted 63 minutes before he was withdrawn for Julien Ponceau.
