Moffi nets brace as Lorient lose to Olympique Marseille
Youngster reaches double figures for Ligue 1 goals in debut season
Nigerian striker, Terem Moffi scored a brace for his French side FC Lorient as they fell to a defeat at the hands of Olympique Marseille in their Ligue 1 Matchday 33 encounter on Saturday at the Stade Velodrome.
Moffi opened the scoring after he made a brilliant run and latched onto a through pass before rounding experienced Marseille keeper Steve Mandanda and tucking the ball into an empty net to make it 1-0. Marseille scored twice to turn the game on its head before Moffi scored his 11th Ligue 1 of the season in the second half to level matters for his side again, but they conceded another goal and lost the game.
Moffi has now scored 11 goals this season in the Ligue 1, making him the second highest Nigerian goal scorer in Europe’s top 5 leagues this season. He reiterated his desire to don the green white green of the Super Eagles, and with performances like this, the 21 year old Calabar native would definitely be on the radar of the national team selectors.
