Mohamed Salah Joins UCL Top 10 Scorers List with 51st Goal
Mohamed Salah has made history by scoring his 51st European goal for Liverpool, placing him among the top 10 scorers in UEFA Champions League history.
His achievement came in Liverpool’s 2-1 win over 10-man Lille at Anfield, which secured the team’s place in the knockout stage of the competition. Salah opened the scoring after Curtis Jones provided a perfect pass, allowing him to score with a stunning curling shot past Lille’s goalkeeper, Lucas Chevalier.
This goal marked Salah’s third in the current Champions League season, bringing his total to 51 goals, tying him with Arsenal legend Thierry Henry on the all-time list.
Liverpool’s victory was sealed when Harvey Elliott scored in response to Jonathan David’s equaliser for Lille, who took advantage of a rebound after Aïssa Mandi was sent off for a second yellow card.
With this win, Liverpool maintained their perfect record in the Champions League, having won all seven of their matches this season.
After the match, Salah expressed his pride, saying, “I’m very proud. To be the first player to achieve that for Liverpool means a lot. I’m very happy, but most of all, with the important win.”
Salah now joins football greats like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, who lead the all-time scoring list with 141 and 129 goals, respectively. He has already surpassed legendary Liverpool players like Ian Rush and Fernando Torres in European competitions.
Fans celebrated Salah’s remarkable achievement, with some calling him “bigger than Pele and Maradona” and others describing him as “the greatest winger of all time.”
The 32-year-old has now scored 21 goals and provided 17 assists across all competitions this season, in what could be his final year at the club.
