Mohamed Salah sparks discussion with annual Christmas Family photo

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has ignited debate among his followers after sharing a heartwarming family photo in front of a Christmas tree, adhering to his annual tradition.

The Egyptian footballer posed alongside his wife Magi Sadeq and their daughters, Makka, 10, and Kayan, 4, all donning matching festive pajamas.

Captioning the post with “#MerryChristmas,” Salah’s photo quickly turned into a platform for mixed reactions. Some fans expressed disappointment due to his Muslim faith, while others defended his right to celebrate diversity.

This Christmas post is not a new occurrence for Salah; he has shared such photos in previous years as a way of showing appreciation for different cultures and religions. Raising his daughters in England, a predominantly Christian nation, Salah aims to expose them to the spirit of Christmas while instilling the importance of respecting various beliefs.

Despite his good intentions, Salah faced criticism from some parts of the Muslim community online. One follower expressed concern, stating, “Mohamed Salah lol, you’re acting like a Christian. May Allah forgive you.” Others echoed similar sentiments, expressing disappointment and demanding the post be removed. However, not all comments were critical.

Many praised Salah’s inclusive gesture. Supporters sent warm wishes, with one writing, “Merry Christmas Mo. Hope you and your family have a well-deserved holiday season.” Another noted the amusement in the annual comments that follow his Christmas posts, while one fan expressed heartfelt admiration: “Mo Salah, I love you and your family as human beings! Happy Christmas and Peace.”

On the pitch, Salah’s focus remains sharp as he leads the Premier League’s golden boot race with an impressive tally of 15 goals and 11 assists. Moreover, he became the first player to record 10 goals and assists before Christmas, showcasing his exceptional talent and form this season.

The winger is set to return to action for Liverpool as they face Leicester City on Boxing Day, hoping to extend their lead heading into the New Year.
