Mohammed Babaganaru set to take over at Akwa United FC
Former Gombe United FC head coach, Mohammed Babaganaru is set to take over at Akwa United FC. SportsRation exclusively reports.
The experienced gaffer resigned at Gombe United FC in February, 2024 but is now set to become the substantive head coach at 2021 Nigeria Premier Football League winners, Akwa United FC.
Recall that Akwa United parted ways with Fatai Osho early in the year, with former assistant, Abdullahi Umar overseeing the club.
Umar has recently enjoyed a positive run, taking 10-points from the last four matches , the most recent a 1-2 away win over Plateau United FC to climb out of the relegation zone in the NPFL.
SportsRation now understands, the Akwa United FC management have decided to have Mohammed Babaganaru oversee the final games of the season with the target to retain top-flight status after a very difficult season.
Interim coach Abdullahi Umar will serve as Babaganaru’s assistant, with announcement imminent.
Meanwhile, Akwa United will face Vandrezzer FC in the Akwa Ibom State FA Cup semi-final on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, by 4pm at the Uyo Township Stadium.
