Morocco’s World Cup hero Bono wants to join Courtois-less Real Madrid

Morocco’s 2022 FIFA World Cup hero Bono has told his Spanish Club Sevilla he wants to join Courtois-less Real Madrid this summer.

Real Madrid are desperately in search of a new goalkeeper after Thibaut Courtois was ruled out of the season following a ACL tear in training days ago.

According to multiple sources, Carlo Ancelotti and other Madrid Coaching staff want Morocco’s Bono over other options like former Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea, Keylor Navas, Unai Simon etc.

The players open declaration of interest now makes him favorite to sign for Real Madrid as Thibaut Courtois’ replacement for the season.

Madrid are working on a total package of €20m per MARCA to sign Bono from Sevilla who may hold out for more to fund a move for a new goalkeeper.

Bono has a contract until 2025 and a termination clause of €50million, although he reached an agreement with Sevilla that they would let him go if a potential offer reached €20million.

The Moroccan goalkeeper is long term admirer of Real Madrid and even a close friend of Courtois , details that will be key as Madrid weigh up options ahead of a bid.

Carlo Ancelloti sees Bono as an experienced shot-stopper with a winning profile whose goalkeeping heroics helped Morocco reach the semi-finals at the last World Cup in Qatar.

A two-time UEFA Europa League winner with Sevilla, Bono is considered in Spain as a goalkeeper who is used to big challenges that would withstand the pressure and expectations of playing at the Santiago Bernabéu.

His height (1.95 m) is also something that Madrid value ahead of De Gea who is a free agent after leaving English Club Manchester United earlier this summer.
