Moses Simon Nominated for Marc-Vivien Foé Award
Nigeria international Moses Simon has been nominated for the Marc-Vivien Foé Prize, which is awarded to the best African player in France’s Ligue 1 for the 2024–2025 season.
Simon has been a key player for FC Nantes this season, contributing 15 goal involvements in 25 league matches. His ability to play in different attacking positions has made him one of the standout African players in the French top flight.
On the international stage, Simon has been ever-present for the Super Eagles, featuring in all their matches this season and providing three assists.
The winner of the award will succeed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who won in 2024 while playing for Olympique de Marseille. Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi is considered the favourite this year, as the PSG defender has been in top form, helping his team chase a fourth consecutive Ligue 1 title.
The Marc-Vivien Foé Prize was introduced in 2011 to honour the late Cameroonian midfielder, who tragically passed away during a match in 2003. Nigerian stars Vincent Enyeama and Victor Osimhen have previously won the award while playing for Lille.
Simon will be hoping to follow in their footsteps and bring the prestigious title back to Nigeria.
