Mourinho Reacts To Third Red Card Of The Season
Jose Mourinho was sent off in Roma’s shock 2-1 defeat to Cremonese on Monday night.
The 60-year-old received the marching order for clashing with the fourth official just after the restart.
It was Cremonese’s first win of the season after 24 matches, it was also an unforgettable night for Jose Mourinho.
The controversial coach has now revealed what transpired between him and the fourth official which led to his dismissal.
“I’m emotional but not crazy. For the first time in my career a referee has spoken to me in an unjustifiable way,”.
“To have the reaction I had is because something happened. I need to know now if I can do something from a disciplinary point of view.”
Mourinho was also handed a two-match ban and 10,000 euros fine for the incident.
“Unfortunately, the fourth official doesn’t have the honesty to say what he said to me, how he said it and the way he treated me, which obviously triggered my reaction,”.
“I want to see if there’s an audio recording of what he said to me.
“I don’t want to get into the fact that he’s from Turin, that we have to play Juventus and he wants me off the touchline. I don’t want to get into that. I want to get into the fact that for the first time in my career, a referee, and in this case a fourth official, spoke to me in an unacceptable way.”
Mourinho has now been sent off three times in the Serie A this season against Atalanta, Torino and Cremonese.
The defeat leaves Roma in fifth one point behind Lazio in the fourth position.
Mourinho will serve the first of his two-match suspension against Juventus on Sunday at the Stadio Olimpico.
