MVP hopeful Kawhi Leonard out of Spurs-Warriors game three clash
Kawhi Leonard’s injured ankle will keep him out of game three of the Western Conference Finals between the San Antonio Spurs and the Golden State Warriors.
Leonard aggravated the injury in game one after landing awkwardly when Warriors center Zaza Pachulia contested his jump shot.
It is the same ankle that kept Leonard out of the second match in the series against the Houston Rockets.
Coach Gregg Popovich told reporters: “I spoke to Kawhi, we all spoke about it and in the end I guess it’s my decision. He’s not thrilled that he’s not playing but he’s not ready, so we’re not going to play him.”

Jonathon Simmons is expected to start in Leonard’s place after scoring 22 points in 26 minutes last time out.
The Spurs held a 23-point lead when Leonard went to the bench in game one, but since then the Warriors have dominated the series and hold a 2-0 lead
