My worst season” – Andre Onana makes admission about Manchester United debut season
Andre Onana has admitted that his first year at Manchester United has been ‘his worst’. However, there is an opportunity to end with silverware.
Andre Onana made this admission as he prepares for Saturday’s FA Cup final against Manchester City. The goalkeeper reflected on the difficulties faced during the 2023-24 season and expressed his hopes for a victorious end.
Speaking before the highly anticipated final, Onana, who previously played for Inter Milan in last year’s Champions League final against Man City, acknowledged that this season has been the most disappointing of his career. He cited injuries to key players as a significant factor in the team’s struggles.
“You know, I think I would take this personally and I think this is maybe my worst season, admitted the Cameroonian.

“We have important players who have been injured for almost the whole season, and it’s difficult for the team,” Onana said. “Not only the team, but also the club, the squad, the physios, and the supporters, because they are used to seeing all the players fit. At the moment, we have to deal with that difficulty because everything in life is temporary. It will pass. Most of them are already coming back. It’s already positive for us.”
Manchester City, led by Pep Guardiola, aims to become the first team in English football history to win the Premier League and FA Cup in consecutive seasons. Manchester United, who finished eighth in the league and exited the Champions League in the group stage, need a victory to secure Europa League football next season.
A win for Erik ten Hag’s men would provide a much-needed boost at the end of a challenging campaign. Manchester United have lost four of their last five FA Cup finals and hope to avoid another defeat against a City team on an 11-game winning streak in the competition.
