Naija Super 8: Enyimba FC knocked out after 1-2 loss to Katsina United

Nine-time Nigerian champions Enyimba FC have been knocked out of the Naija Super 8 tournament after a 1-2 loss to Katsina United FC at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos.

Second half goals from Ibrahim Yahaya ( 54th minute ) and a Nazilfi Yahaya penalty kick ( 58th minute ) bettered a Fatai Abdullahi free-kick goal for Enyimba FC.

The Peoples Elephants came into Tuesdays evening Kickoff of the Naija Super 8 tournament seeking victory to keep their slim chance of progressing from group A alive following defeat vs Remo Stars and draw vs Sporting Lagos FC on Sunday July 9.

Nigeria Premier League returnees Katsina United FC ended their participation to put themselves in good stead for a last-4 place when they face Sporting Lagos FC in the final group A game.

As it stands, Remo Stars FC, Sporting Lagos FC, and Katsina United FC are tied on four-points with Remo Stars SC already done with their group fixtures.

A draw in the game between Sporting Lagos FC and Katsina United FC will hand the Premier League new clubs Semi-final tickets while Remo Stars SC will go through if there is a winner in the group A decider.
