Lobi Stars FC battled to a 4-3 penalty shootout win over City FC to book the North Central spot for the Naija Super 8 finals.
The opening game of the playoffs at the Eket Stadium in Akwa Ibom State, Lobi Stars FC and City FC shared spoils in a 2-2 regulation time score before the Benue side triumphed on penalties.
In the North Central playoffs on Friday June 23, Nigeria Premier League side Lobi Stars FC took the lead following an own goal in the 36th minute of the match.
Abuja based Nigeria National League club City FC equalized in the 53rd minute before taking the lead in the 76th minute.
The NNL side were cruising towards a stunning win over Lobi Stars FC before Joseph Atule drew his team level in the 87th minute.
At the end of regulation time, scores stood at Lobi Stars FC 2-2 City FC.
For a winner to emerge, the game went straight to penalties where Lobi Stars FC emerged 4-3 victors and will fly the North Central flag at the Naija Super 8 National Finals in Lagos State.
Remo Stars FC and Shooting Stars will face-off for the Southwest ticket in the second game of the day.
