Napoli coach Spalletti advises Osimhen to work on one part of his game

Napoli headcoach Luciano Spalletti has told Victor Osimhen one area of his game he must improve on.

The Italians traveled to Spain to face Barcelona in a Europa League knockout stages first leg on Thursday.

Victor Osimhen was not fully fit for the game, but he started and played for 80 minutes before he was withdrawn for Lorenzo Insigne.

The Nigerian striker had just one shot on target as Napoli played the most part of the game in their half enroute their 1-1 draw in Camp Nou.

Victor Osimhen was a constant threat whenever he had the ball especially when Napoli hit Barcelona on the counter.

And Spalletti acknowledge this part of his game but he also mentioned one area of his game that needs to be improved.

It was clear for all to see that Victor Osimhen had timing problem on the day as he was caught in the offside position more than four times.

“He still needs to learn about the right movements, as in the second half he was caught offside four or five times when he really should’ve been following the line,” Spalletti told footballtalia.

“The midfielders also need to draw out an opposition defender to then put the pass through.

“I do see this performance as an improvement, if we can only carry on certain moves and approaches for the whole game. It was the choice of defending deeper that cost us, because that was a choice. When we attacked Barcelona, we caused them a lot of problems.”
