Napoli lowers asking price for Victor Osimhen after he rejects Saudi offer
Napoli is now urgently seeking to sell Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen as the transfer window nears its end. The Serie A champions have significantly reduced their asking price for the Super Eagles star after struggling to secure a lucrative move.
Initially, Napoli set a hefty €130 million price tag on Osimhen, hoping for a substantial sale to address financial concerns. However, with the transfer window closing in less than a week, the club has yet to receive the desired offers. According to transfer expert Fabrice Hawkins, Napoli is now prepared to accept bids as low as €70 million, including add-ons.
The situation became more complex when Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli agreed on terms with Napoli for Osimhen. Despite this, the move fell through as Osimhen rejected the offer, citing concerns over salary and the absence of a release clause.
Osimhen’s agent, Roberto Calenda, confirmed that the striker wishes to continue his career in Europe, stating on social media that Osimhen “still has much to do in Europe.” This has prompted European clubs like Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Chelsea to re-evaluate their interest.
Napoli’s decision to slash their asking price and Osimhen’s preference to stay in Europe have drawn attention from major European clubs. PSG, in particular, remains a strong contender, especially after the injury to Gonçalo Ramos. While Chelsea has also shown interest, PSG appears to be the front-runner for Osimhen’s signature if they decide to make a move before the deadline.
With the transfer window closing on August 30, Napoli is keen to finalize a deal and resolve the uncertainty surrounding Osimhen’s future.
