Napoli manager Antonio Conte shares update on Victor Osimhen’s future

Napoli manager Antonio Conte has provided an important update regarding the future of star striker Victor Osimhen amidst ongoing transfer speculation.

Conte emphasised that Nigerian striker Osimhen must continue working hard in training despite the uncertainty surrounding his future at Napoli.

Osimhen has a €130 million release clause in his contract, but no European club has yet been willing to meet this hefty fee, suggesting a slim possibility of him remaining in Italy beyond this transfer window.

Speaking about the situation, Conte mentioned via Fabrizio Romano, “I spoke to Victor, and there are no changes in his situation. He’s a top player.” He added, “He’s a Napoli player today, so he needs to work hard, even if we have an agreement and still we don’t know the outcome of this story.”

Osimhen, who netted 15 goals in 25 appearances last season, has joined his teammates for pre-season training. However, his focus might be tested by the ongoing transfer speculation.

While his preference is a move to the Premier League, no concrete offers have materialized. In the meantime, Napoli is exploring alternatives, including the possibility of replacing Osimhen with Romelu Lukaku if a suitable offer is received.
