Nasarawa United 3-4 El-Kanemi Warriors: Kabiru Dogo takes responsibility for NPFL home loss

Nasarawa United FC head coach Kabiru Dogo has taken full responsibility for his team’s dramatic 3-4 NPFL home defeat to El-Kanemi Warriors on Saturday, September 21.

The Solid Miners, despite an impressive hat-trick from Anas Yusuf, were unable to maintain their two-goal lead as the visitors mounted a stunning comeback in their 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) matchday three clash at the Lafia City Stadium.

Speaking after the match, Dogo expressed his disappointment with the outcome, acknowledging that the result was far from what the team had planned. “It’s actually not what we planned for today, especially going by our recent results, both home and away,” Dogo said. “But this is football; you can’t predict what will happen next. We accept the defeat but will certainly bounce back.”

Despite the loss, the Nasarawa United coach congratulated El-Kanemi Warriors on their victory and remained optimistic about his team’s future. “Tomorrow could be our own turn to win away. We take responsibility for the defeat and will turn things around,” he said.

Dogo praised his players for their resilience and improvement, highlighting their character despite the setback. “The boys are showing both character and improvement in each passing game. With time, I believe we will get things right.”

In a message to Nasarawa United’s fans, Dogo urged them to remain patient and supportive as the team works through its challenges. “I want to plead with our loyal supporters and fans never to give up on us. We will bounce back stronger and better.”

Looking ahead to their next match, an away fixture against Ikorodu City FC in Lagos on 28th September, Dogo expressed confidence that his team can secure a positive result. “In our next game against Ikorodu City in Lagos, we can get a win there. Never rely on today’s result to judge our performance; we are still a work in progress.”

Nasarawa United will now focus on preparing for their upcoming fixture, where they hope to bounce back and return to winning ways.
