5 other matches also held on Sunday

In the second set of Matchday Six fixtures, Nasarawa United came back from a goal down to win 2-1 away from home at the Ozoro Poly Stadium, home ground of Warri Wolves. Warri Wolves took the lead through Uche Ihuarulam in the first half, before goals from Silas Nwankwo and a late Chinedu Ohanachom strike turned the tie in favour of the Solid Miners. The result ensures that Nasarawa United remain the only unbeaten team in the league, and they move to the top of the log for a second time this season.

Abia Warriors boss Imama Amapakabo is quickly running out of time to save his job, after his team played out a goalless draw at home to MFM FC. It was their first game at the Okigwe Township Stadium, and they looked shorn of ideas in the game. They move to 19th on the table after picking up 2 points from 6 games.

Sunshine Stars picked up their first away win of the season as they handed a defeat to Dakkada FC at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo. Sadeeq Yusuf’s third goal of the season gave the Akure Gunners the lead, before Dakkada equalised through Jesam Edet in the second half. It was Yusuf who scored again to give his team the win shortly after Dakkada’s equaliser.

Rangers International and Lobi Stars played out a drab goalless draw at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu in their Matchday Six encounter. Rangers had goalkeeper, Nana Bonsu to thank for the point as his heroics in goal prevented Lobi Stars from scoring. Lobi Stars finished the game with 10 men after Ossy Martins got red carded for elbowing a Rangers man off the ball.

Former Super Eagles keeper, Dele Aiyenugba was again in imperious form as he kept a third straight clean sheet in Kwara United’s 1-0 home win over FC Ifeanyi Ubah in Ilorin. The 37 year old held things down for his team until the 87th minute when substitute Wale Farayola scored the lone goal. Aiyenugba has now kept a clean sheet in all three of his NPFL matches for Kwara United. The win moves Kwara United to 5th on the table, as Ifeanyi Ubah remain in the relegation zone.

Heartland secured their second victory of the season from behind against Akwa United, winning 2-1. The Naze Millionaires went behind after Mfon Udoh scored for Akwa United, before a Samuel Nnoshiri penalty and a Pascal Eze strike settled the tie. The win ensured that Heartland moved out of the relegation zone, and eases some of the pressure on coach Fidelis Ilechukwu.
