Navratilova Backs Raducanu to Rise in Rankings if She Stays Fit

Tennis legend Martina Navratilova believes Emma Raducanu can break into the world’s top 30 and earn a seeding for the French Open—if she stays injury-free.

Raducanu is set to return to the WTA top 50 after a strong performance at the Miami Open, where she reached the quarter-finals. Her impressive run, which included four wins, has given her season a much-needed boost.

The 2021 US Open champion also pushed world No. 4 Jessica Pegula to three sets, further raising hopes of her return to top form.

“If she stays healthy and plays this well, then she’ll be seeded at Roland Garros,” Navratilova told Sky Sports Tennis. “I think she’ll move into the top 30. The biggest question mark is her health.”

Navratilova also suggested that Raducanu needs stability in her coaching team.

“Hopefully, she can sort out her coaching situation. She’s been in a state of flux, but she needs to commit to somebody and see how that works,” she added.

During her match against Pegula, Raducanu called for medical assistance after feeling dizzy at the end of the second set. Navratilova believes stress may have played a role in her struggles.

“She didn’t look well at the end of the second set, but she still won the tie-break and kept competing,” she said. “The conditions were fine, so it may have been more about pressure. It’s amazing she finished the match.”

With her confidence growing, Raducanu now looks to build on her momentum ahead of the clay-court season.
