NBA: Oklahoma City Thunder’s Bismack Biyombo collapses during game
During Wednesday night’s game between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Portland Trail Blazers, Oklahoma City forward Bismack Biyombo collapsed while standing in front of the Thunder bench in the second quarter.
The incident occurred as the team was heading to the sideline during a timeout, and it was not immediately clear what caused Biyombo to collapse. However, he fell to the floor and appeared to require assistance.
Despite the frightening moment, Biyombo was able to leave the court under his own power after a brief delay. The 13-year NBA veteran, who had recently signed with the Thunder, was playing just his fifth game with the team.
Following the incident, Biyombo was evaluated by Blazers physicians who were present at the game. Thankfully, he was cleared of any serious medical conditions, according to Thunder sideline reporter Nick Gallo. However, as a precautionary measure, Biyombo was ruled out for the remainder of the game.
Given the potential seriousness of unexpected medical situations, caution is paramount. While Biyombo’s collapse did not result in a severe medical emergency, the Thunder organization is taking the necessary steps to ensure his well-being.
Until further information is available regarding the cause of the collapse, the Thunder will continue to prioritize Biyombo’s health and safety and so he will take no further part in the teams engagements.
