NBA recap: Lakers, big guns all lose

Timberwolves, Kings, Thunder pick up vital wins

Some of the biggest sides in the NBA were in action on the night of October 27th, and fell to shock defeats at the hands of smaller teams. Here is our NBA recap for October 27th.

One of the biggest teams on our NBA recap Los Angeles Lakers lost 123-115 against the Oklahoma City Thunder to end their two-match winning streak and take their record for the season to 2-3. Canadian Shai Gilgeous-Alexander contributed 27 points, nine rebounds, and five assists for the Thunder as they overcame a 26-point deficit in the second half. NBA triple-double record holder Russell Westbrook recorded his first triple-double for the Lakers with 20 points, 14 rebounds and 13 assists.

Miami Heat defeated the Brooklyn Nets 106-93 to hand the Nets a third defeat of the season in five matches. Bam Adebayo less the scoring for the Heat with 24 points and nine rebounds. Jimmy Butler also contributed 17 points and 14 rebounds in the match.

Minnesota Timberwolves picked up their third victory of the season with a 113-108 defeat of champions Milwaukee Bucks. Karl-Anthony Towns, Anthony Edwards and D’Angelo Russell combined for 79 points for the Timberwolves to condemn the Bucks to their third defeat of the season. Giannis Antetokounmpo contributed 40 points and 16 rebounds, but could not save his side.

Phoenix Suns were defeated yet again by the Sacramento Kings 110-107 to take them to three losses in four matches this season in the NBA. Buddy Hield and Harrison Barnes combined for 48 points for the Kings in the match. Barnes scored a three-point buzzer beater to win the game for the Kings.

Washington Wizards halted the Boston Celtics’ two-game win streak by defeating them 116-107. Montrezl Harrell led the scoring for the Wizards with 25 points and 11 rebounds. Jayson Tatum and Dennis Schroder combined for 45 points, but it was not enough to avoid defeat.

Miles Bridges led the scoring for the Charlotte Hornets as they bounced back from a defeat last time out to pick up a  120-111 win over the Orlando Magic. Bridges contributed 31 points and six rebounds in the match.

Last year’s conference finalists, Atlanta Hawks, picked up a 102-99 win over the New Orleans Pelicans to improve their record to 3-1. Trae Young led the scoring for the Hawks with 31 points, five rebounds and seven assists.

Toronto Raptors defeated the Indiana Pacers 118-100 for only their second win of the season. Fred VanVleet and OG Anunoby combined for 51 points for the Raptors.

Portland Trail Blazers defeated the Memphis Grizzlies 116-96 to pick up their second win of the NBA season. CJ McCollum and Damian Lillard combined for 45 points for the Trail Blazers in the match.

Colin Sexton contributed 26 points with seven rebounds and an assist for the Cleveland Cavaliers as they defeated the Los Angeles Clippers 92-79 for their third win of the season.
