Suns taste defeat after securing playoff spot
Miami Heat defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 117-105 to return to winning ways in the NBA. The Eastern Conference leaders had Bam Adebayo contributed 30 points and 17 rebounds in the game, and Jimmy Butler scored 24 points.
Memphis Grizzlies kept up their place as the second seed in the Western Conference of the NBA with a 118-114 win over the New York Knicks. Ja Morant led the scoring with 37 points for the Grizzlies, and Julius Randle scored 36 points for the Knicks.
Atlanta Hawks picked up a 112-106 win over the Los Angeles Clippers in their NBA game. Trae Young recorded a double-double of 27 points and 11 assists for the Hawks, and the duo of Ivica Zubac and Reggie Jackson scored 24 points apiece for the Clippers.
Boston Celtics defeated the Detroit Pistons 114-103 on Friday. Jayson Tatum led the Celtics with 31 points, eight rebounds and six assists on the night. Cade Cunningham contributed 27 points for the Pistons in a futile effort.
San Antonio Spurs defeated Utah Jazz 104-102. Dejounte Murray led the scoring for the Spurs with 27 points, nine rebounds and four assists, and Donovan Mitchell managed 24 points for the Jazz.
Charlotte Hornets defeated the New Orleans Pelicans 142-120. Miles Bridges led the scoring with 26 points as Terry Rozier contributed 25 points for the Hornets. Trey Murphy III contributed 32 points for the Pelicans.
Orlando Magic defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 118-110. Mo Bamba led the scoring for the Magic with 27 points and 12 rebounds, and Wendell Carter Jr contributed 20 points and 10 rebounds. Anthony Edwards recorded 25 points for the Timberwolves in the game.
Dallas Mavericks defeated the Houston Rockets 113-100 in their NBA clash on Friday. Luka Doncic led the scoring with 30 points and 14 rebounds, and Dwight Powell recorded 26 points and 12 rebounds.
Toronto Raptors shocked the playoffs-bound Phoenix Suns 117-112 in their encounter on Friday. Gary Trent Jr contributed 42 points for the Raptors as Pascal Siakam recorded 25 points and 10 assists. Precious Achiuwa also had 11 points and seven rebounds in the game.
