Brown, Tatum shine for Celtics in first game without Udoka
Reigning NBA champions Golden State Warriors opened the 2022-23 NBA season with a convincing win over the Los Angeles Lakers. The Warriors claimed a 123-109 win over their long-time rivals to start the season as they wanted.
Reigning finals MVP Steph Curry led the scoring on the night with 33 points, six rebounds and seven assists. Andrew Wiggins led the Warriors’ supporting cast with 20 points, while Klay Thompson contributed 18 points. Despite their much-publicised brawl, both Draymond Green and Jordan Poole featured for the Warriors with four and 12 points, respectively.
LeBron James led the Lakers with 31 points, 14 rebounds and eight assists on the first game of his 20th season in the league. Anthony Davis scored 27 points for his side, and Russell Westbrook contributed 19 points and 11 rebounds.
Despite the absence of suspended Head Coach Ime Udoka, the Boston Celtics started the 2022-23 regular season as they ended the last one. They claimed a 126-117 win over the Philadelphia 76ers to go 1-0 in the season.
Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum each tallied 35 points for the Eastern Conference champions in the clash, with Tatum also recording 12 assists. James Harden scored 35 points for the 76ers, and Joel Embiid contributed 26 points and 15 rebounds.
