NBA Recap: Nets maintain good run of form as Golden State falls to third straight defeat
Lakers, Magic, Mavericks, Cavaliers all win
Brooklyn Nets improved their NBA record to 18 wins this season as they defeated the Toronto Raptors 119-116 in Friday’s action. Kyrie Irving led the scoring for the Nets with 32 points and Kevin Durant scored 28 points. Fred VanVleet scored 39 points for the Raptors.
Golden State Warriors saw their woes compounded as they fell to a 118-106 defeat at the hands of the Philadelphia 76ers. It was their third defeat this week after losses to the Milwaukee Bucks and Indiana Pacers. Joel Embiid led the scoring for the 76ers with 34 points and 13 rebounds and James Harden scored 27 points. Jordan Poole scored 29 points for the Warriors.
Atlanta Hawks defeated the Charlotte Hornets 125-106 in Friday’s NBA action. Trae Young led the scoring with 31 points and Bogdan Bogdanovic scored 28 points. LaMelo Ball scored 27 points for the Hornets.
Sacramento Kings defeated the Detroit Pistons 122-113 in their NBA clash. De’Aaron Fox led the scoring for the Kings with 24 points and Domantas Sabonis scored 23 points and 13 rebounds. Bojan Bogdanovic scored 22 points for the Pistons.
Cleveland Cavaliers claimed a 118-112 win over the Indiana Pacers to pick up their 19th win in the NBA this season. Donovan Mitchell led the scoring with 41 points and Darius Garland scored 20 points and ten assists. Bennedict Mathurin scored 22 points for the Pacers in the game.
Orlando Magic claimed their tenth win of the NBA season after a 117-109 win over the Boston Celtics. Moritz Wagner scored 25 points for the Magic and Paolo Banchero contributed 20 points. Jayson Tatum scored 31 points for the Celtics in the game.
Minnesota Timberwolves claimed a 112-110 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder. Naz Reid led the scoring with 28 points and Austin Rivers added 20 points for the Timberwolves. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 35 points for the Thunder in the game.
New York Knicks claimed a 114-91 win over the Chicago Bulls in their NBA clash on Friday. RJ Barrett scored 27 points for the Knicks and Jalen Brunson contributed 20 points in the game. Zach LaVine scored 17 points for the Bulls.
Dallas Mavericks defeated the Portland Trail Blazers 130-110 in their NBA encounter. Luka Doncic scored 33 points and Christian Wood contributed 32 points and 12 rebounds for the Mavericks. Damian Lillard scored 24 points for the Trail Blazers.
Los Angeles Lakers returned to winning ways as they overcame the Denver Nuggets 126-108 in their NBA clash. Russell Westbrook recorded a triple-double for the Lakers as he extended his NBA record for triple-doubles with 15 points, 11 rebounds and 12 assists. LeBron James scored 30 points for the Lakers. Nikola Jokic scored 25 points and 11 rebounds for the Nuggets.
