NBA: Why the Warriors Want Kevin Durant Back
The Golden State Warriors are reportedly eager to bring Kevin Durant back as they try to rescue their season before the February 6 trade deadline.
According to reports, the Warriors are actively exploring ways to sign a star player, with Durant—now with the Phoenix Suns—as their top target.
Durant previously played for the Warriors for three seasons, winning two NBA championships, before leaving for the Brooklyn Nets.
Warriors in Talks with Suns
Reports suggest that talks between the Warriors and Suns over a possible deal have intensified.
Brett Seigel of Clutch Sports reported:
“These extensive conversations have reached a new level. This has gone from an idea to a realistic scenario to something we are actively preparing for. Golden State actually wants to make this happen again.”
Why the Warriors Need Durant
The Warriors are in 11th place in the Western Conference, and their chances of making the playoffs are slipping away.
At 36 years old, Stephen Curry can no longer carry the team alone. The Warriors need a proven scorer like Durant, who is averaging 28 points per game, to become serious title contenders again.
A Durant return would not only boost their playoff hopes but also revive the team’s championship ambitions.
