NBBF Unveils 12-Man D’Tigers Squad for 2025 AfroBasket Qualifiers
The Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) has announced the final 12-man squad for the 2025 FIBA AfroBasket Qualifiers, set to take place in Tripoli, Libya, from 21 to 23 February 2025.
D’Tigers will face Cape Verde and Uganda as they aim to secure a place in the tournament. The squad is a mix of experienced players and promising talents, selected to boost Nigeria’s chances of qualification.
The team, along with coaches and staff, departed from their various locations on 17 February and arrived in Tripoli ahead of the competition. They will hold their first training session in Libya as they finalise preparations for the crucial matches.
D’Tigers, coached by Abdulrahman Mohammed, must win at least two of their three games and hope Uganda slips up to increase their qualification chances. Cape Verde currently leads the group with six points and is likely to secure a spot in next year’s finals.
Despite a strong performance from Mike Nuga, who scored 31 points in their opening game, Nigeria lost to Libya. However, the team remains focused and determined to perform well in the qualifiers and strengthen their position for the 2025 AfroBasket.
